Hawaii
Retreat

The first time I went to Hawaii and drove through the tunnels on the H3, coming out on the Kaneohe side, I thought I was experiencing an episode of Planet Earth. The sharp green ridges of the vertical cliffs right on the side of the road, with trickling waterfalls, foliage I had never seen in my life and the teal color of the sea in front of me. I came to life. And every time I go back, it feels the same. Awoken. Even though I lived there for 15 years; that overwhelming sense of gratitude to be there and to be taking it all in, feels like a gift. It’s the magic of the ‘Aina.

So, it is with excitement that I invite 11 kindred souls to join me when I return this winter for my annual trip back to host a photographer’s retreat. Each trip back, I try to see the island differently; find a way to challenge myself with reinventing familiar locations and finding new ones. And for this retreat in particular, I want to approach it in a different way than past ones.

After experiencing Italy with a group of amazing women last spring, I realized there was a need for something deeper than just an educational retreat. An opportunity to bring together a group of women needing a sisterhood. Where they could walk away, not only inspired, fueled with new tools and creativity to blaze forward with their work, but feeling seen and heard and having lifelong friends as well. In Italy, we laughed and cried, hiked and explored and ate all the good things.

I’m kind of hoping to do the same, but in Hawaii. So let’s shoot a lot and cook breakfast together and go over all the nuts and bolts of photography (because, hey business, editing, controlling light, travel photography, location scouting, styling and all that good stuff is part of it as well). I’m an all in type of girl, so there’s full transparency in all aspects of how I run my photography business, that I’m happy to share. And yes, editing with raw to finish process will definitely be shown (I get asked that a lot).

I want to give you confidence, friendship and ways to take your work to the next level that is authentic to you. Let’s chase those dreams together. This is an all-inclusive experience, with lodging, meals and education included. Plus, wine and coffee too, because those are necessities. Snacks, special drinks and transportation will be up to you to cover.
