I’ve been hosting my “Hometown Retreat” in the Brookings, Oregon for 6 years now, and there’s a reason I keep coming back. This ruggedly beautiful, untouched and breathtaking place is a piece of home & it sets the backdrop for creating insanely beautiful photos.

I grew up in Brookings, Oregon, and there is something incredibly special about sharing this wild, rugged, beautiful corner of the Pacific Northwest with other photographers. The dramatic coastline, towering trees, moody light, hidden beaches, and endless scenic beauty make this place an absolute photographer’s playground.

But this year, I’m doing things a little differently.

I don’t want this to be another photography workshop where we spend hours sitting in a room, listening to presentations, taking notes, and trying to figure out later how to actually apply everything we learned. Instead, we’re going to get out there and create. We’re going to shoot. Explore. Experiment. Play. Push ourselves creatively. And figure out what YOU need to take your photography to the next level. This retreat is going to be deeply hands-on, with three incredible model shoots, plenty of opportunities for 1:1 guidance, individual feedback, portfolio and image review, editing guidance, and space to ask the questions that are specific to where you are in your photography journey.

Maybe you’re wanting to grow your confidence behind the camera. Maybe you’re ready to elevate your artistry, strengthen your business, or find your creative voice. Maybe you’re simply feeling stuck and need some space and inspiration to play again. Maybe you’re just dying to shoot on the Oregon Coast. I’ll meet you where you are. And if you’re a hobbyist? There is absolutely a place for you here, too.

We’ll make time for all the things that make these retreats so special: self-portrait swaps, image reviews, editing together, adventure, connection, laughter, and plenty of time to simply enjoy being here.

This is also an all-inclusive retreat, and one of my favorite personal chefs will be flying in from Hawaii to cook for us—which means you can expect some seriously amazing meals throughout our time together.

And then there’s where we’ll stay. I intentionally chose a space that is incredibly personal to me: the old Upper Chetco School, where I attended grades K–7. Back then, there were a whopping 35 students in the entire school. It’s quirky. It’s rustic. It’s very Pacific Northwest. And it is definitely not luxury accommodations.
But that’s part of the adventure. My past attendees have absolutely loved the experience, and I think there’s something really special about bringing you into a place that holds so much of my own history.

So pack your camera. Pack your hiking shoes. Pack layers for whatever kind of Pacific Northwest weather we decide to get. Pack the dress you’ve been waiting for an excuse to wear for some epic self-portraits. Pack your curiosity, your creativity, and your willingness to try something different. And leave the rest to me. Because we’re not just going to talk about making art. We’re going to go make it. Let’s make some magic on the Oregon Coast!
