ABOUT

MY ROOTS

Childhood for me was running wild and free, barefoot in the woods of Oregon – picking wildflowers, making forts out of fir boughs and losing myself in the daydreams that consumed me. I like to think that this early love of nature and wild spirit carries on in my photography, as I get to capture my clients in some of the most stunning landscapes on the planet.

As an adult, my wanderlust brought me to Hawaii, where I met my husband and delivered both of my girls. After 15 years living the dream of island life, we decided to buy a house and plant some roots in Denver, Colorado. It’s here, that we’re finding a new love for the beauty that the mountains hold and trying to give our best to our children.

I’ve found motherhood and family to be the most precious gifts this life has given me and I strive to find and create beauty in those relationships daily. It’s that inspiration and gratitude that enables me to seek and capture authentic moments for the families that I get to meet. I hope to meet you and capture your story in a way that makes you feel the poetry of your own life.

“Our truest life
is when we are in
dreams, awake.”

KIND WORDS

“Stormy’s work is exquisite. Each image looks as though it has been pulled from a storybook, one I could read over and over and discover new details with each new read. She has the ability to anchor her subjects in strength while also allowing genuine tenderness to pour out, and this is no small feat. Her style is unique and her talent is rare.

As an artist myself I try to gain inspiration purely from the beauty in nature and within relationships rather than from other artists, but, Stormy is indeed an exception to my rule. When I look at her work it makes me better. Strands of hair blowing in the wind, breathtaking skies wrapping around her subjects, her perspective of intense thoughtfulness from behind the lens… it’s as though her body of work has a soundtrack all its own, and it is classical and brave and kind.

I had the honor of spending a day with Stormy up close last year, face to face, alongside her family and she is the most humble and endearing woman I have ever encountered. She has a way of making people feel at home in her presence which I believe is what also allows the subjects in her photographs to become at ease and spring to life so beautifully in her images. That matched with her daydream-like backgrounds and her spellbinding vision just makes for unmatched imagery.” — Joy Prouty, Wildflowers Photography
