For the last 2 years, I’ve hosted the “Hometown Retreat” & it has been a dream to lead some of my all time favorite shoots in my hometown of Brookings, Oregon. The dramatic & rugged coastline & scenic beauty really is unparalleled. I’m heading back to host here for the third time, with the intention & strong desire to let my creativity flourish and do the same for 10 other special ladies attending. This is a photographers playground.
This all-inclusive retreat will be 4 days geared at hands on learning with shoots & round table editing & discussions, community, adventure, laughter and bonding — all geared at drawing out the emotion and elevating your work to its highest potential. There will be 4 family & motherhood sessions. Between shoots, you’ll have the opportunity to get personal review of your work or guidance on editing finesse during our round table time.
With that being said, I’ll also say that I chose a unique space for our base & where we’ll be staying – the old Upper Chetco School, that was once where I attended grades K-7 & had a whopping 35 students total back then (in the entire school). It’s definitely a quirky Pacific Northwest experience, but my attendees loved it last year. Please come for a fun adventure & know this isn’t about luxury accommodations.
I’m so excited to open up this 4 day retreat opportunity to those wishing to reignite their creative soul & kick off the summer with some amazing shoots & education. The Details
WHEN: May 16-19, 2023. Retreat will begin at 4 pm on May 16 and end with check-out at 10 am on May 19.
WHERE: Brookings, Oregon (I’d recommend flying into Medford, OR & carpooling with other attendees to & from the coast).
WHAT’S INCLUDED:
- 4 Family & Motherhood Sessions
- All meals plus coffee & red wine at the retreat house, but snacks & other drinks will be up to you.
- Unique & quirky lodging at the old Upper Chetco School, that was once where I attended grades K-7 (there were 35 students in the entire school if you can imagine that) & is now an Airbnb. Beds will be shared & are in the old classrooms, so multiple beds per room. I opted for this very quirky Pacific Northwest experience over oceanfront luxury — so please come with an open mind & willingness to have some fun & embrace creative lodging.
- Nailing backlight, blue hour, direct, harsh, and low light in dramatic or emotional ways.
- Creating connection and storytelling in your work in an authentic way.
- Family Films
- Business, pricing, social media, setting yourself apart in a saturated market, travel photography
- Start to finish editing techniques
- Thought Processes, Styling, Location Selection, Settings, Gear, Everything
- Roundtable Editing & Portfolio Review, which provides opportunity for 1:1 with each attendee as I walk around the room to offer help & answer questions.

Registration opens at 12 pm noon (MST) on August 19. Please email me then to secure a seat. (Sorry, no early birds & I’d highly recommend setting an alarm to submit, as past retreats have sold out instantly & I just never know how these will fill).
Limited to 10 attendees. 50% deposit due at registration, with balance due March 16, 2023. Seats are offered on a first come basis.
Refund Policy
All seats are non-refundable or transferable. In the event you can’t attend, you can sell your seat to someone to replace you.
